Everyone in this modern time is turning towards a 'side business' to make more money and explore freedom.
Where this use to be an odd occurrence it has quickly become the norm today.
In fact, according to a study by CNN Money, "44 million Americans have a side hustle."
Everyone thinks to start a business you need to have technical skills, huge budget, and start the next Facebook.
You can start a business using the skills you already have and turn that into a service that people need.
With some guidance and determination you could easily turn this into a $500-$2k per month worth of additional income.
It will require some hard work and dedication but well worth it once you get things up and running.
With that said, it's helpful to have a guide or a blueprint to walk you through the initial steps.
Fortunately, I've created a FREE course around this very topic: Launch Your Freelance Business in 3 Days!
I'm happy to share my knowledge to make things a little easier and less stressful as you're going through the process.
While there are many other steps you need to take to launch your business, I've narrowed it down to just 3.
We'll outline each step and discuss in detail so you'll have a better understanding of what you need to do.
You can use this guide as your blueprint to launch your freelance business or side hustle.
Take an Inventory of Your Skills
One of the top reasons people don't even attempt to start a business is they don't know how or what to start.
It's actually quite simple... use the skills you're already good at to turn that into a service.
With the internet age that we're currently living in, you could literally turn your skill into a business in a matter of days.
This compared to months in the pre-internet era!
The first and most critical step is to identify what you're REALLY good at.
Now this may sound pretty simple as it will be fairly easy for many others but that may not be the case for you.
If you have a special skill as a developer, project manager, resume writer, photographer, graphic designer, etc.
These are skills that people are more than willing to pay for as long as you can prove you're exceptional at it.
Here are some ways to start thinking about this...
- what do you do for your day job?
- what do you enjoy doing the most?
- what do people ask the most help from you on?
- what do people call you for before they research Google?
Reach out to people in your circle (family and friends) and ask the what you are really good at.
This may seem a little weird at first, but it truly works.
Startups With No Code was created because people like the way I provided solutions for non-technical people.
Once you start asking people this question, you will be amazed at the responses you get.
These are skills that you already possess but you just haven't viewed them in a way to package them as a business.
Well that starts today!
I doubt this is truly the case that you don't have ANY skills.. but if you're in this mindset here is what you need to do.
There are several platforms that will allow you to acquire some additional skills:
These are great learning sites to acquire skills like graphic designing, development, marketing, social media marketing and more.
Remember this is the first and most critical step.
Without a valuable skill-set that you're really good at you can't have a business that will serve you for a long time.
Find People That Need You
In the pre-internet era finding people that needed your skills would consist of placing an ad in the classified section of the local newspaper.
Now you could literally post your service on the internet and receive request both locally and nationally sitting in your home office.
Marketing is not an easy skill that everyone is born with, but you will have to know a little bit to market your service.
In my Launch Your Freelance Business course I share this one highly used site to post your service for FREE.
Marketing normally presents two main challenges: time and money.
But the internet has made it extremely easy to reduce those two challenges dramatically.
Now you can post your service for FREE on social media, or other freelance-based sites.
Presentation is everything when it comes to business.
How your offer looks to your customers is the first step to getting their business.
You don't have to be an experience graphic designer, but you should know how to use the tools to make your ad presentable.
Above is a simple, yet high effective ad that I use to attract businesses and customers looking to set up a WordPress site.
With both of these tools you could create a simple ad like this, logos, or awesome social media images.
Start Setting Up Meetings
The best thing about starting a freelance business is that you don't even need to create a website.
That's something you definitely should do but not required when you're starting out.
In the Launch Your Freelance Business course I teach you the strategies to market your business without a website.
Here are the two critical tools you'll need:
- Google Voice Number (FREE)
- Your email
It's important that you use a Google Voice number so that when customers reach out to you they don't have your primary number.
This was a huge mistake I made in the beginning that I want to prevent you from making.
When customers call your Google Voice number they will reach you on your primary mobile without knowing your primary number.
Pretty awesome right?
Best of all Google makes this service available to you for FREE
So take advantage.
Starting a business may seem like a huge challenge but hopefully this guide has given you a different perspective.
You may be in a situation where you're not happy with your current job, want to increase savings, or pay off debt.
Starting a side business is a great way to accomplish all of those goals with a little hard work and determination.
Looking forward to following your success using the Launch Your Freelance Business in 3 Days course!
